FoxiPod Help
How do I install it?
Firefox tells me something about an unknown protocol
This is because the foxipod:// protocol hasn't been used before. For proper
functionality, you should check the box to allow the protocol to be used in the
future.
Won't malicious hackers be able to download random files to my iPod then?
No.
FoxiPod creates a random key for you the first time you run it, and uses that
key in the GreaseMonkey script when it
creates the foxipod:// links. So when you click on a foxipod:// link
(or one gets opened somehow), FoxiPod won't do anything unless the link contains the
correct key. It is very unlikely that anybody without access to your
computer would be able to generate a foxipod:// URL with the right key.
Wait! Firefox just gives me an error when I click a foxipod:// link
In order for Mac OS X to know that FoxiPod is the right application to use with foxipod://
links, you usually have to copy the FoxiPod application to your Applications folder, and
possibly run it. You can also try quitting and restarting Firefox.
Or follow this procedure:
- Quit FoxiPod and Firefox.
- Open the
Terminalapplication - Execute this command:
open foxipod://
This should launch FoxiPod for you. Now try opening Firefox and downloading again.
Ok, when I click the foxipod:// link it opens FoxiPod, but nothing happens!
Sounds like you should re-install the FoxiPod greasemonkey script:
- In FoxiPod, choose Foxipod > Get User Script..., or, type Command-U.
- Firefox should open a webpage with a link that called FoxiPod User Script.
- Control-click the link and choose Install User Script... from the context menu.
